619 PWDs get social welfare aid in QC


Around 619 persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Quezon City have received social welfare assistance from the city government on Wednesday, April 5.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte led the distribution of the said aid at the Quezon City Hall, which provides the PWDs  with P1,500 subsidy per quarter of the year (every three months) that they can use to buy medicines or for other needs.

Belmonte said that it is the priority of the city government provide support to the residents, especially those who are in the vulnerable sector.

The city government said they are aiming for 8,000 PWDs to get enrolled in the program this year. 

The program aims to provide help to PWDs with severe health conditions, bedridden, solo parent PWDs, solo parents with PWD children, PWDs who live alone or with senior citizens. It is under the City Ordinance 3115-2022 signed by the mayor in April last year.

Residents can check the program’s qualifications and requirements on the Quezon City Government Website or by coordinating with the QC Persons with Disability Affairs Office.
