They share how their financial advisor career leads their family and clients to “A Lifetime for Good.”
Insular Life (InLife) recently honored its 270 financial advisors and agency leaders nationwide for their outstanding sales performance in 2022. Among the awardees are the father and son, Arslie M. Malipero and Razlee Louie V. Malipero, who won the Underwriter of the Year and the Unit of the Year awards, respectively.
In an interview, Arslie and Louie shared how they started as financial advisors and how the profession helped their family and their clients lead “A Lifetime for Good.” They also noted that their passion to help others achieve financial security motivates them to further spread the benefits of life insurance to more Filipinos.
Arslie was a consumer product salesman before he became a financial advisor of Insular Life in 1996. Over the years, his rewarding career made a positive impact on his family and clients.
“I was able to provide the best education for my children, and spend vacation abroad with my family. I have provided enough for my family's needs in general,” Arslie shared.
“Personally, I feel happy and fulfilled every time a client thanks me for the living benefits he/she got from his/her existing policies. I gained so many friends from my service,” he added.
Louie graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Accountancy from the Ateneo de Davao University. After working in a bank for over a year, he joined their family’s insurance agency.
Louie admitted that his transfer to the insurance profession was challenging. “With the guidance of my parents, I overcame the challenges, and recruited and trained several new financial advisors. I am proud of my progress and I look forward to making continued positive contributions,” he said, adding that he also hopes to continue his parents’ excellent work.
Louie further noted that his primary goal is for Filipinos to understand the importance of life insurance in a more engaging and personalized way.
“I am working hard to engage with clients, provide personalized guidance, and create educational materials to help them better understand the benefits of insurance. While there is still much work to be done, I am already seeing the positive impact of my efforts in the lives of our clients,” Louie said.
As financial advisors dedicated to spread the benefits of life insurance and financial planning to Filipinos, the Maliperos work hand in hand with their clients such as the Dumaluan family. Creating a significant impact on people's lives
Arslie explained that life insurance is primarily a form of economic value.
“My long-time friend who bought life insurance years back died at the height of the pandemic. He had told me that purchasing life insurance is the only way that he can send his children to college. His daughter wants to be a doctor. The widow assured me that the proceeds of life insurance will be saved as her daughter goes to college next year at the University of Sto. Tomas in Manila,” he shared.
Louie pointed out that there are many compelling reasons why more people should consider having a career in the insurance industry. He explained that the lifelong career and learning opportunities, competitive compensation and benefits, are worth the hard work.
The financial advisor career may not be on the list of commonly aspired professions in the country, but this father and son’s success story spells out the personal gains and positive impact on other people. The Maliperos prove that having passion and compassion in the insurance industry changes the lives of their family and their clients.
