PDEA dismantles drug den in Cebu City, arrests maintainer, three others


CEBU CITY -- Four persons were arrested as anti-narcotics agents dismantled a drug den in Barangay Suba here on Tuesday afternoon, April 3.

Jakeson Latonio, the alleged maintainer of the drug den, was the first to be arrested after he allegedly sold a pack of suspected shabu to a poseur-buyer, said Leia Alcantara, information officer of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA-7).

PDEA-7 agents also arrested Latonio’s alleged worker, Aisa Pino, 32.

Junel Mansing, 31, and Retchie Rodrigo, 31, were also arrested after they were caught inside the drug den when PDEA-7 agents swooped in.

Six packs of suspected shabu weighing around 50 grams with an estimated market value of P340,000 were among the items seized during the raid.

Alcantara said that based on the information that they received from concerned citizens, Latonio was capable of disposing of 50 to 100 grams of shabu per week.

Charges for violation of Sections 5, 6, 7, 11, and 12, Article II of Republic Act 9165 will be filed against the arrested persons, the PDEA-7 said.(Calvin D. Cordova)
