DHSUD brings gov't housing program to Quezon province

Local chief executives of Quezon province have committed to allocate lands and support the national government’s housing projects for their respective constituents, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) said.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar said the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) on housing on Monday, April 3, between Quezon Governor Angelina Tan and 31 mayors and the DHSUD was the biggest MOU signing event in terms of the total number of LGUs signing up in a single day.

“With this, we are confident that LGUs in Quezon province will be able to build decent and affordable housing units for its constituents, highlighting the housing interest support from the national government,” said Acuzar.

The new deals brought up the number of LGUs with MOU under the national government housing to 122.

Tan, for her part, said the provincial government will mobilize its resources to expedite the implementation of the said housing program.

She also expressed her gratitude to DHSUD for partnering with the province and its municipalities in pursuit of the Marcos administration’s flagship housing program.

Prior to signing of the said deal, DHSUD presented the options that LGUs can explore in financing the land development and building construction which include direct developmental loan from GFIs or private banks, and joint ventures with private developers.

On land acquisition and titling, DHSUD has offered technical assistance to fast-track the processing and prioritize the LGUs with challenges in their land resources.
