9th detainee who initiated Pasay jailbreak recaptured; one more being hunted

The detainee who initiated the jailbreak at at the Malibay detention facility was the 9thfugitive recaptured by the Pasay City police in their continuing manhunt operations.

According to Col. Froilan Uy, city police chief, Norman Deyta, 28, who is facing charges for illegal possession of drugs, initiated the jailbreak together with two other detainees.

Uy said Deyta was rearrested at around 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, along Apelo Cruz St., Barangay 152, Pasay City.

The city police chief said that during the jailbreak, Deyta held and mauled the duty jailer - Staff Sergeant Arrison Arid - and took his service firearm, cash money, and the assorted keys of the jail.

Uy said Deyta was arrested by a combined team of Station Investigation and Detective Management Section (SIDMS), Intelligence Section (IS), and the Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS).

He said the operatives were able to recover from Deyta the service firearm of Arid, a .9mm caliber pistol, and magazine with eight live ammunitions.

The city police chief said they are still conducting a manhunt operation for the recapture of the remaining suspect, Richard dela Cruz.

Uy said the 10 detainees bolted the Malibay detention facility on Monday, April 4 by breaking the iron grill of the facility.

The rearrested suspects were Joey Hernandez, Eden Garcia, Tirzo Galit, Joshua Panganiban, Christian Salvatierra, John Michael Cabe, Romeo Estopa, and  Carlo Magno Benavidez.
