ZAMBOANGA CITY – Mayor John Dalipe here inspected security preparations at the Abong Abong Park in Barangay Pasonanca last Sunday, April 2, for the yearly trek of devotees this Holy Week.

Dalipe inspected the city government’s Mobile Command Center, a facility deployed to serve as a monitoring facility inside Abong Abong Park.

The Mobile Command Center is a P20-million minibus equipped with 25 cameras set up in various locations in the park.  It is also equipped with a drone to provide a bird’s eye view of large tracts of land inside the facility.

The Mayor walked along the park’s 14 Stations of the Cross while being briefed by city police director Col. Alexander Lorenzo.

Last week, the City General Services Office spearheaded the preparation of the park for the Holy Week.

City police have finalized security preparations not only for Abong Abong but also for religious activities.

Abong Abong Park is the traditional destination of devotees here during the Holy Week.

Some 20,000 devotees visit the park to pray before the 14 Stations of the Cross.
