Police destroy P4.5-M marijuana in Kalinga


CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Police destroyed marijuana plants worth P4.5 million in Tinglayan, Kalinga, on Thursday, April 27.

The Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO) under the Police Regional Office-Cordillera and the 141st Special Action Company of the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force uprooted and burned 22,500 fully-grown marijuana plants with an overall standard drug price of P4.5 million in Barangay Buscalan.

Meanwhile, police have arrested a suspected drug pusher in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Burnham-Legarda-Kisad in Baguio City.

Police identified the suspect as Roger Lagne, 36, of Barangay Brookside, Baguio City.

Lagne yielded one plastic sachet of suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 0.21 grams and valued at P1,428.

The inventory of evidence was conducted on-site in the presence of the suspect, Prosecutor Bernard Allan Angeles, and Councilor Jerry Benosa Manuel of Barangay Rizal Monument, Baguio City.

Lagne and evidence are in the custody of the Baguio City Police Office Station 7 (Abanao) for documentation. Suspect faces charges for violating Republic Act (RA) No. 9165 or the  Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
