Three security guards posing as policemen were arrested after they started a brawl in a bar at A. Venue, Makati Ave., Barangay Poblacion in Makati City, Friday, April 21, the Southern Police District (SPD) said.
The suspects, identified as Renante Sacil, Lino Bartolay, and Richard Bongcras Jr., all security guards, were nabbed by operatives of the Makati City Police.
According to the police report, the three suspects were having a drinking session at the bar when Sacil approached the bar's singer and asked about their requested song.
When the singer politely answered that there were many requested songs ahead of theirs, Sacil became confrontational and claimed that they were police officers in Makati.
When the singer asked for their police IDs, the suspects became even more aggressive and threatened everyone who tried to pacify them.
The commotion caused disturbance at the bar, prompting the manager to seek assistance from the Poblacion Police Substation.
Upon arriving at the bar, the responding police officers tried to pacify the three suspects, but they became even more aggressive and disrespectful, shouting at the police officers "Wala kaming pakialam sa inyo, criminologist kami! Hindi Kami sasama sa inyo! (We don't have a care about you! We are criminologists and we will not come with you!),"
This prompted the officers to arrest the suspects who were later found out to be security guards and not members of the Makati City Police.
The three are now facing complaints for violation of Art. 177 (Usurpation of Authority), Art. 155 (Alarms and Scandals), and Art. 151 (Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in Authority or the Agents of Such Person) of the Revised Penal Code.
