Bulacan's environmental offices conduct tree planting, waterway clean-up activities

Tree planting and waterway clean-up activities were conducted by some of Bulacan's environmental offices at Barangay Ubihan, City of Meycauayan, Bulacan on Thursday, April 20.

The activities were conducted by the Bulacan Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO), Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), Bulacan Police Provincial Office (BPPO), and other personnel from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in celebration of Earth Day on April 22.

The BENRO, headed by Attorney Julius Victor Carag Degala, said it coordinated with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the Army, and all the municipal and city environmental and natural resources offices in the province for the implementation of the provincewide Simultaneous Environmental Protection Operations (SEPO) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

Meanwhile, Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando reminded BENRO to prioritize and protect the environment through the implementation of SEPO in the province.

He said SEPO seeks to achieve a "Resilient Nature and Clean Environment", which is part of the country's 10-Point Agenda.

"The environment cannot protect itself. The people led by the government should undertake positive actions to protect the environment,” the governor said.

Moreover, the SEPO program also includes environmental preservation activities including mineral hauling checking, quarry site inspection, establishment visitation, and other related activities.
