Police officer nabbed in Surigao City buy-bust


CAMP RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – A police officer was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Surigao City before dawn on Sunday, April 16.

His identity was tem    porarily withheld pending the arrest of his supplier and companions in the illegal drugs trade.

The suspect with the rank of police patrolman was arrested around 3 a.m. after he allegedly sold two sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 1.39 grams to a poseur-buyer.

Police Regional Office-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Pablo G. Labra II on Monday, April 17, ordered an in-depth investigation into the involvement of the police officer in the illegal drugs trade and those who had prior transactions with him.

Labra also directed unit commanders to maintain Squad Weekly Interactive Meeting (SWIM) for their personnel's spiritual growth and beef up intelligence operation as a monitoring mechanism among their subordinates.

“No one is above the law,” he said  in his directive.

“PRO13's aggressive stance against illegal drugs continues without letup,” he said, adding “Anyone who sells and uses illegal drugs has nowhere to hide.”

“Let us help each other in ensuring a drug-free community for our children, loved ones, and the generations to come,” Labra said.
