Bureau of Immigration (BI) operatives have arrested on Thursday, April 13, an overstaying British national operating an unlicensed resort for tourists in Coron, Palawan.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said 61-year-old Paul Stuart Leggot has been in the country since 2014 without bothering to extend his tourist visa and securing business permit for his resort.
Tansingco lauded the immigration operatives for arresting the British national in Coron, Palawan even as he warned foreigners not to abuse the hospitality of the country.
“Foreign nationals may only work or have business in the country if they secure the appropriate visas and other requirements,” said Tansingco.
“Aliens who refuse to comply with our laws take away the livelihood opportunities from Filipinos, and don't pay appropriate taxes to the government,” he added.
The BI chief ordered the immediate transfer of the British to the bureau's detention center in Taguig City for booking and inquest.
