MORE Power’s new substation in Iloilo City now operational

ILOILO CITY -- MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) has energized its new power substation at Iloilo Business Park, the township of Megaworld Corp. in Iloilo City.

With a maximum capacity of 36 megavolt ampere (36 MVA), it is the first permanent substation of MORE Power since it took over commercial operations from its predecessor in February 2020.

"This is a breakthrough as we fulfilled our mandate of providing reliable and cost-efficient electric power distribution service to Iloilo City,” said MORE Power President and CEO Roel Castro.

The substation's completion at the 72-hectare township is primarily to provide stable and reliable power supply in an area where there are business process outsourcing (BPO) companies, hotels, condo buildings, and a mall.

“We are fully committed to the upgrading of the power infrastructures here to meet the needs of our customers and support the economic growth of the city," Castro emphasized.

The Megaworld substation is equipped with modern machinery and technology.  It includes a digital interface for easy connection to smart grid applications and online Dissolved Gas Analyzer (DGA) for all gases.

The substation also has protection features for the power transformer from external and internal faults.
