Binangonan LGU pushes for women empowerment through livelihood skills


A series of livelihood seminars are being offered for free to the women of Binangonan, Rizal as part of the Women’s Month celebration in the lakeshore municipality.

Members of the Barkadahan ng Kababaihan ng Binangonan (BKB), including the chairwomen of various villages, attended a seminar on lei and corsage dried flowers and balloon bouquet making at the Binangonan Recreation and Conference Center (BRCC) organized by the municipal government through the Municipal Agriculture Office and Binangonan Gender and Development Office.

According to the office of Mayor Cesar Ynares, the series of seminars targets the women sector to empower them with various livelihood skills that they can use if they want to start a business or get employment.

Earlier this week, a seminar on fashion bayong making and bread and pastry production were also given to women participants through the Livelihood Training Program of the Gender and Development Office of the municipal government.

Most of the members of the BKB, which is chaired by Dr. Rose Martha Callanta-Ynares, wife of Mayor Ynares, are either housewives, single mothers or self-supporting persons.
