2250 families in Ubay town affected by Typhoon Odette in 2021 receive cash assistance


CEBU CITY – The National Housing Authority (NHA) on Friday, March 24, distributed cash assistance to families in Ubay, Bohol who lost their homes when Typhoon Odette battered the country in December 2021.

Some 2,250 families received P10,000 each through the NHA Special Emergency Housing Assistance Program.

The beneficiaries are from barangays Casate, Bood, Poblacion, Tapon and Cacambugan in Ubay.

Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado and Provincial Administrator Aster Caberte graced the occasion.

Ubay Councilor Violeta Reyes represented Mayor Constantino Reyes during the activity.

Ubay was the first local government unit in Bohol to receive such assistance based on the data of the Department of Social Welfare and Development's Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center or Dromic.

"After Ubay, the next towns will follow,” said Aumentado.

Ubay was one of the towns in Bohol that was badly hit by typhoon Odette in 2021. Records from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office showed that at least 80,000 houses in Ubay were destroyed by the typhoon.
