DOLE Region 1 to mark women’s month with ADALEN webinar

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – In line with the celebration of Women’s Month, the Department of Labor and Employment-Regional Office 1 (DOLE-RO1) will hold a free webinar on statutory benefits for women employees in a special ADALEN episode this Saturday, March 25.

ADALEN, an Ilokano term meaning learn, is an acronym that stands for Advocating for Digitally-Accessible Labor Education in the New Normal. A webinar series of DOLE Region 1 aims to harness digital technology to apprise workers and employers on salient updates and developments on labor.

DOLE-RO1 Regional Director Exequiel Ronie A. Guzman invites all private sector employers, HR managers, and employees, particularly women, to take part in the webinar to refresh their knowledge on the benefits provided by various legislations to promote the interest of female members of the country’s workforce.

“We have also strategically scheduled the webinar on a Saturday to give time to workers and managers to attend the webinar,” said Guzman.

Among the topics to be discussed are Maternity Leave, as provided for by Republic Act (RA) 1161 (as amended by RA 8282); Leave for Victims of Violence Against Women and their Children, through RA 9262; and Special Leave for Women, through RA 9710.

While it is not exclusive to women, the Parental Leave for Solo Parents, through RA 8972, shall also be tackled in the webinar.

Speakers will be DOLE RO1 female labor inspectors Carmen Jo-An Viloria and Engr. Christy Marie Radam.

Interested participants may now register through bit.ly/ADALEN to receive the Zoom credentials.
