1,095 fingerlings released on Iloilo River

ILOILO CITY – An additional 1,095 fingerlings were released on the Iloilo River by MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power), the sole power distributor here.

“One of the core values of MORE is all about environmental stewardship, and this is well-aligned with one of the core programs of Iloilo City, which is sustainability,” said Niel V. Parcon, vice president for corporate planning and regulatory.

MORE Power has released fingerlings on the river that was once considered dying for the third time.

The corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity on its fourth anniversary was in partnership with the Iloilo City government in sustaining the revival of the river that was pushed by former Sen. Franklin Drilon.

The CSR is also an effort to boost the eco-tourism of this city.

“Normally we go to churches, but that is also offered in other cities. And they thought of making the river a centerpiece of that program. So, it’s part of MORE Power’s commitment to be part of that city's sustainability program,” said Parcon.
