BIÑAN CITY, Laguna – The local government unit (LGU) broke ground for Sentro ng Patanghal na Sining ng Biñan (Biñan City Center for Performing Arts) in Barangay Poblacion on Thursday, Feb. 2.

The ground-breaking ceremony led by Biñan City Lone District Rep. Len Alonte Naguiat, Mayor Arman Dimaguila, Vice Mayor Gel Alonte, and other local officials was part of the celebrations on the first day of Araw ng Biñan festivities.

The 500-seat theater, expected to host plays, concerts, and cultural events once completed, will be constructed beside Sentrong Pangkultura ng Biñan in the city’s heritage district.

“Ang daming magagaling na artists sa Biñan (There are many good artists in Biñan). The project would be their permanent home - to house them for training, to showcase their talent, to present the very best of Biñan,” Biñan City Culture, History, Arts and Tourism Office (BCHATO) Head Bryan Jayson Borja told the Manila Bulletin.

Borja said a well-equipped theater will allow artists to perform better.

“We can present the real ‘magic’ of theater, and of course, much comfortable seating for the audience for total theatrical experience,” he added.
