Players from the Unified Tennis Philippines reign supreme in their respective age groups in the recent 38th Penang Open International Juniors Tennis Championships in Malaysia.

Mateo Rivas and Kaye Ann Emana led the assault by ruling the centerpiece boys 18- and girls 18-under divisions, respectively.

Also capturing titles were Kendrick Bona in the boys 16-under, Maria Hannah Divinagracia in girls 16-under, Kenzo Brodeth in boys 14-under and Jana Jelena Diaz in girls 14-under.

Emana, Bona, Brodeth, Divinagracia and Diaz also teamed up with their respective partners to also shine in the doubles events.

Emana and Mica Ella Emana captured the girls 18-under doubles crown, Divinagracia conspired with Kimi Brodeth to win in the girls 16-under, Bona and Mcleen Gomera dominated the boys 16-under, Kenzo joined forces with Lexious Cruz for the boys 14-under title, Diaz and Jayden Reece Ballado lifted the girls 14-under trophy, and Maristella Torrecampo and Ong Zi Zuan prevailed in the girls’ 12-under class.

Meanwhile, settling for runner-up honors in the singles events were Ma. Caroliean Fiel (girls 10-under), Ballado (girls 14-under), Kimi Brodeth (girls 16-under), and Mica Ella Emana (girls 18-under).

Rivas and Vince Serna also finished second in the boys 18-under doubles, as well as Alexandre Coyiuto and Armik Serillo in the boys 12-under.

Cebuana Lhuillier and UTP President Jean Henri Lhuillier lauded the plays for a job well done.

“Like all roads, our athletes faced numerous bumps and hitches along the way. However, it was with their sheer effort, skill, and will that they were able to overcome these adversities and raise the Philippine flag on the international stage,” said Lhuillier.

“Not to mention that in most of the categories, our athletes were either champions or runners-up. This has been a testament to the Filipino talent we aim to cultivate, and I am excited to see what our young stars will bring in the future. Congratulations, everyone!” he added.
