QCPD inspects train stations, bus terminal for holiday season


The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) inspected the Metro Rail Transit (MRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT), and Cubao bus terminal on Tuesday, Dec. 5, to ensure the safety of commuters during the Christmas season.

QCPD director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan led the inspection. He was joined by National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Regional director Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., and Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr.

The initiative aims to protect the community and guarantee a safe environment for both residents and visitors in the city throughout the Yuletide season.

According to QCPD Public Information Office (PIO), no problems were observed in MRT, LRT stations and Cubao terminal during the inspection.

It added that they deploy personnel in public areas every day, including church, malls, public markets, transportation terminals and other public places to ensure the safety of the citizens.

They will also dispatch additional personnel for the upcoming traditional nine-day Mass or “Simbang Gabi” from Dec. 16 to Dec. 24.

Maranan emphasized that they will work closely with transportation authorities and terminal operators to deal with possible issues and maintain increased security during the holiday period.

"I strongly urge the public to remain vigilant, strictly adhere to safety guidelines, and promptly report any suspicious activities to law enforcement (agencies)," he said.
