Daikin Philippines partners with Mandaue City for a 'cooler' Central Visayas

In its effort to champion technology and sustainability, Daikin Philippines signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on "Technical Cooperation for Sustainable Development" with the Mandaue City government during a ceremony held at Daikin Technology and Innovation Center (TIC) in Osaka, Japan last Nov. 16, 2023.

MOU FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. Philippine Green Building Council Chief Executive Officer Christopher Dela Cruz, Mandaue City Councilor Jennifer del Mar, Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes (attended online from Mandaue City), Daikin Airconditioning Philippines President Takayoshi Miki, and Daikin Industries General Manager of Global Operations Division Junichi Ohmori.

Daikin Philippines’ vision to create breakthrough innovation and overall success of the air-conditioning industry, particularly in the City of Mandaue was the main reason for the MOU. It also entails collaborations with non-government organizations (NGOs).

“What we wanted [in] Daikin PH is to elevate the technology in terms of air conditioning in the Philippines. We also collaborated with the Philippine Green Building Council because we know [we’ll be] talking to the right people, talking to the right city,” said Deputy Division Manager of Daikin PH Wesley Andre Chu.

Daikin Philippines also collaborated with the Philippine Green Building Council (PHILGBC) to ensure that they are engaging with the right stakeholders and promoting sustainable practices in the building industry. PHILGBC is a non-profit organization that advocates for green building practices and aims to create a sustainable environment through the sharing of knowledge and the development of a green building rating system.

Daikin has joined forces with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to ensure that professionals in the air conditioning industry have the appropriate skill-set.

This partnership between Daikin Philippines and Mandaue City is a significant step towards achieving breakthrough innovation and success in the air-conditioning industry while prioritizing sustainability.
