Magnitude 5.9 earthquake in Occidental Mindoro felt in Bulacan


The Bulacan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Bulacan advised the Bulakenyos to always take precautions, follow safety tips, listen and obey instructions from authority after the 5.9-magnitude earthquake in Occidental Mindoro was felt in the province on Tuesday, Dec. 5.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported at around 4:38 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5, a magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck Lubang, Occidental Mindoro at 4:23 p.m. and aftershocks are expected.

Due to the earthquake, the employees of the municipality of Calumpit immediately got out of the municipal buildings.

No one was reported hurt in the earthquake, but Mayor Lem Faustino of Calumpit still reminds everyone to stay alert and be prepared for whatever may come next.

The students at the Immaculate Conception Polytechnic in Santa Maria, Bulacan were also shocked by the sudden shake, and all of them were told to evacuate from the campus.

An Intensity 4 earthquake was recorded in Marilao, Bulacan using the Earthquake Intensity Meter placed at the MDRRMO Operation Center
 
The earthquake was also felt in Metro Manila and neighboring areas.
