Heavy rain triggers landslide in Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – A landslide hit the town of Santa Praxedes, this province, due to heavy rain caused by the northeast monsoon or “amihan.”

Marlene Miralles, Santa Praxedes Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer, said a team was deployed to landslide-hit Barangay Centro Dos on Monday, December 4, to evaluate risk among residents.

Although the area is far from homes, Miralles said that it is close to a school, making it dangerous for students.

She said they will monitor the area from time to time.
