"Currently, the DICT's Cybersecurity Bureau has established 47 CERTs in the country, aiming to establish 15 more CERTs in 2024, comprising 10 National Government Agencies (NGAs) and 5 Regional CERTs," DICT chief Ivan John Uy said in his keynote speech in the Philippine CERT Conference.

"While this conference will significantly contribute to our efforts, we are consistently advancing our push to combat cybersecurity risks," he added.

Meanwhile, he underscored the accomplishments of the National CERT, highlighting that it actively managed 1,462 cyber incidents from January to October 2023.

"With government and emergency services, academia, and telecommunications as the top three affected sectors," Uy noted.

The Philippine CERT Conference took place in Eastwood, Quezon City, serving as a crucial platform to bring together cybersecurity professionals, government officials, industry leaders, and international partners. The conference aimed to address the evolving cyber threat landscape.

"This conference is a unique opportunity to learn from one another and collectively work towards a safer and more resilient cybersecurity ecosystem," the DICT chief said.

The Philippine CERT Conference included several drills intended for the Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) sectors.

"CCID (CERT-PH Cyber Incident Drill) primarily aims to solidify the CII's cybersecurity awareness, knowledge, and principles in keeping their organization secure; simulate a real-life cyber incident, and evaluate their cyber response capabilities and preparedness," DICT said.

Moreover, Uy extended a warm welcome to the event attendees.

"Let us make the most of this conference, forging new connections, gaining valuable insights, and collectively contributing to advancing cybersecurity practices," he said.
