ECCP welcomes Go as economic affairs chief

The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) has welcomed the appointment of Secretary Frederick Go to the Office of the Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs (OSAPIEA).

In a statement released on Dec. 28, the ECCP said it is extending its warmest congratulations to the new secretary.

“We look forward to continuing to work with him [and the entire economic cluster] on increasing investments and facilitating the ease of doing business in the Philippines,” it remarked.

The ECCP has been instrumental in bridging economic ties between Europe and the Philippines, as it promotes European and Philippine interests and exchanges in goods and services.

The ECCP has 800 members, offering an expansive business network that all branches of the Philippine government has tapped and utilized.

The group has been involved in advocacies to promote a “more competitive environment” for European-Philippine trade and investments.

“We are hopeful that this vision will continue to be reflected both in his new role and in the policies that the government's economic cluster will champion,” added the ECCP.

Go was appointed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. as the Secretary of the OSAPIEA, effective on Jan. 8, 2024.

Given his appointment, Go will resign as director, president and CEO of Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC), the firm announced on Dec. 20.

He will be replaced by JG Summit President and CEO and Gokongwei Group Chief Lance Gokongwei.

Go has also resigned as chairman and board member of RL Commercial REIT Incorporated.
