The DOH Covid-19 tracker, however, revealed no new fatalities, maintaining the country's fatality rate at 1.6 percent.

Meanwhile, active cases stand at 5,091.

There were 247 recoveries, which have brought the total number of successfully recovered individuals to 4,059,225, representing a recovery rate of 98.3 percent.

Concerning Covid-19 bed occupancy, it said that 12.31 percent of the 1,958 designated ICU beds are in use, with 16.64 percent occupancy for non-ICU beds.

Out of the 1,932 available mechanical ventilators, 107 are actively supporting Covid-19 patients.

Despite these figures, the health department is urging the public not to become complacent.

Health officials emphasized the ongoing importance of adhering to basic health standards, including the proper wearing of face masks and staying in well-ventilated areas.

In an interview with ANC on Dec. 19, DOH Secretary Teodoro Herbosa stressed the department's recommendation for antigen testing over polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing for individuals exhibiting symptoms.

He outlined a testing protocol, stating, "You can test every other day starting when you get symptoms. Once positive, isolate for five days and you can test again. Continue to wear a mask for 10 days even if your isolation is over for five days, as you can still have the virus."
