DAVAO CITY – Five-hundred thirty-two students of the Mindanao State University-General Santos City campus received their benefits under the cash-for-work program of the Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Friday, December 15.

DSWD-12 Regional Director Loreto Cabaya Jr. said 476 of the beneficiaries were from MSU-General Santos City Campus while the rest are from South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat.

Cabaya added that each beneficiary received P5,000 during the payout at the university campus.

He said the CFWP is an initiative of Sen. Imee Marcos and implemented by the KALAHI-CIDSS.

While the cash aid aims to augment the needs of students, Cabaya said the fund assistance is  a temporary intervention for fresh graduates still looking for jobs.

Alliah Jean Abordo, a 23-year-old  Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering graduate, cited the program, saying it has helped her gain experience while assigned at the Polomolok Municipal Nursery in South Cotabato.

Cabaya said beneficiaries are again set to work in their communities for 90 days and will be paid  P390 per day.
