The PRC said that this initiative aimed to provide financial assistance to indigent patients who need blood transfusions but cannot afford to pay blood processing fees.

PRC Secretary-General Dr. Gwen Pang underscored the significance of community involvement in guaranteeing access to life-saving blood for everyone through its PRC Pasay Chapter event held last Dec. 3.

It added that the mission is not just about raising funds, but about “forging connections.”

“Your presence at this event is not just a testament to your generosity; it is a commitment to the fundamental belief that, as a community, we can make a difference—one bowl of congee, one life touched at a time,” she added.

While blood donation itself is free, the PRC collects processing fees to guarantee its safety for transfusion.

These fees cover crucial procedures like donor screening, infectious disease testing, blood component preparation, storage, and quality assurance.
