38 immigration inspectors undergo training for deployment this Christmas season

Thirty-eight new immigration inspectors who are undergoing training at the Philippine Immigration Academy (PIA) will be deployed starting Dec. 11 as members of augmentation teams in preparation for the influx of passengers this Christmas season.

Those undergoing training at the PIA inside the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga are immigration officers, immigration assistants, administrative aides and officers, and fingerprint examiners.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said the training will be completed on Dec. 11 in time for their deployment.

Aside from lectures on Philippine immigration laws and policies, their training also includes soft skills training to ensure that they will be able to provide better service to the traveling public, Tansingco said.

“After the issues we have encountered, we saw the need to up soft skills training wherein our frontliners are trained in communication, customer service, and conflict resolution,” he said.

“This allows for a more holistic training, which we hope would significantly improve our services,” he added.
