Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela, Quezon City LGU’s join Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill


The local governments of Malabon, Navotas,  Valenzuela, and Quezon Cities joined Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) for the fourth quarter of 2023 on Thursday, Nov. 9, to enhance the cities' preparedness and effective response to different disasters and calamities.

Local government employees, teachers and students from several schools joined the earthquake drill held outside the Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela City Halls.

The Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) and the Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Councils (DRRMC) of the cities also joined the activites.

The drills were conducted to ensure that every individual was equipped and prepared to respond to earthquakes and other disasters and to also prioritized the safety of the residents of the entire community.

Meanwhile, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) led drill at the QCPD headquarters in collaboration with the Disaster Incident Management Task Group (DIMTG), Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (QCDRRMC), and the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) to participate in the fourth quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill.

According to QCPD, the goal of the activity was to improve the preparedness and response capabilities of its personnel, specifically in the event of a seismic disaster.

During the drill, two personnel acted as injured individuals. Emergency response teams immediately responded to deliver medical assistance and evacuate them to designated safe areas.

QCPD said the activity showed the strong level of coordination and collaboration among all participants, highlighting their commitment to protecting lives and reducing the potential impact of a real earthquake.

Furthermore, the representatives from BFP and QCDRRMC also lauded the active involvement of the QCPD personnel in the drill.

They highlighted the significance of preparedness achieved through planning, effective communication, and training to ensure better response in actual emergencies.
