Senate OKs ‘Tatak Pinoy’ bill on final reading

The Senate on Monday, November 6 approved on third and final reading the proposed “Tatak Pinoy” or Proudly Filipino Act.

Twenty-three (23) senators voted in favor of Senate Bill No. 2426. There were zero abstentions and zero negative votes. The bill has been certified as a priority legislation by the Marcos administration.

The bill mandates the creation of a “Tatak Pinoy” Council that would be responsible for devising strategies to promote Filipino products and creations in the global market.

Sen. Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, author and sponsor of the measure, earlier predicted that the measure, once passed into law, would generate more job opportunities for Filipinos.

Angara also expressed hope that the measure would eventually help solve the country’s concerns over poverty, trade, current deficit, unemployment, low income and other issues.
