NAGCARLAN, Laguna – Police discovered an arms cache owned by the New People’s Army in Purok 7, Barangay Abo, this town, on Wednesday, November 29.
A 1st Laguna Provincial Mobile Force Company team led by Police Capt. Rolly Dahug received information during an internal security operation (ISO) from the Barangay Intelligence Network (BIN) that communist war materials were buried in the area.
Police searched the area and found a net bag with a caliber .22 rifle, a rifle grenade, a 40mm bullet, M203 grenade, a PVC elbow pipe, a nine-volt battery, snap battery connector, a crocodile connector, 1.5 liters of diesel, 1.5 liters of gasoline, a 10-meter long flat wire, one-meter firing wire, matches, and a lighter.
Last week, police also recovered NPA war materials in Batangas.
Police Regional Office 4-A Director Police Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas said these war materials were found in a drum stashed in Sitio Masapit, Barangay Toong, Tuy, by a Regional Mobile Force Battalion 4-A team led by Police Lt. Jiordan Braham Saniano.
These were composed of two MK2 fragmentation hand grenade, three long and short 5.56mm magazines, two hand-held radio chargers, three spare hand-held radio batteries, two long sleeve shirts with Eduardo Dagli Command print, yellow raincoat, two lithium grease containers, 5.56mm ammunition and subversive documents.
Meanwhile, three NPA rebels surrendered to the police in General Nakar, Quezon and Rosario, Batangas.
They were identified as Jose and Nelson from the Ganap na Samahang Masa, Platun 1 YGM, Komiteng Larangan Gerilya Narciso, Sub-Regional Military Area 4-A (SRMA4A), and Lyn.
Jose and Nelson yielded in General Nakar and turned over a caliber .38 revolver with bullets and grenade while Lyn turned herself over to the Batangas 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company in Barangay Masaya, Rosario.
