Faithful invited to novena masses in honor of Immaculate Conception at Manila Cathedral


The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception (Manila Cathedral) in Intramuros, Manila is inviting the faithful to attend the first day of the novena and novena mass in honor of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on Wednesday, Nov. 29.

Fr. Rufino C. Sescon, Jr., rector of the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene (Quiapo Church) will preside over the novena at 11:30 a.m. and the novena mass at 12:10 p.m.

The nine day novenario and holy masses will be held until Dec. 7, the eve of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, which will be celebrated on Dec. 8.

On Dec. 8, feast masses at the Manila Cathedral, the Mother Church of Roman Catholics in the Philippines, will be held at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., 12:10 p.m., 4 p.m. and at 6 p.m.

The feast day of the  Immaculate Conception will be preceded by the Intramuros Grand Marian Procession on Dec. 3, Sunday, at 4 p.m. Holy masses will be celebrated at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and at 2 p.m. on Dec. 3, which is also the First Sunday of Advent.

On Dec. 11, a holy mass will be held at 12:10 p.m. to mark the anniversary of the Dedication of the Manila Cathedral.

Incidentally, the 194th Healing Rosary for the World will be observed on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 9 p.m. Fr. Rodolfo M. Cruz, parish priest of the Saint Helena the Empress in Hagonoy, Bulacan will lead the prayer service in front of the revered image of the Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.
