Makati City Mayor Mayor Abby Binay, together with Vice Mayor Monique Lagdameo, Rep. Luis Campos, city councilors, barangay chairmen, and PCP commanders led the awarding ceremony for the 11 top barangays and three PCPs held at the Session Hall of the city hall.
The city awarded a seal for five stars and cash prize of P500,000 each to Barangays San Isidro, Guadalupe Viejo, South Cembo, and P.P. Southside. Barangays Bel-Air, San Lorenzo, Pitogo, East Rembo, Pembo, Pinagkaisahan, and P.P. Northside each received a seal for three stars and P150,000.
Meanwhile, police substations of barangays Comembo, Guadalupe Nuevo, and Bangkal were awarded as champion, first runner-up, and second runner-up, respectively. Each received a seal and a cash prize of P300,000 (champion), P200,000 (first runner-up), and P150,000 (second runner-up).
According to the city government, the Search for the Most Child Friendly Barangay is conducted annually and automatically considers all barangays in Makati as participants.
They are then grouped into five categories based on their similarities, such as income, population, and presence/absence of elementary and high schools. Barangays are then evaluated in key areas based on the children's survival, development, protection, and participation.
Meanwhile, 10 PCPs are automatically included as participants for the search. They are evaluated based on physical facilities, training of personnel, information and advocacy, effectiveness of child protection services, and effectiveness of child protection awareness.
The cash award given shall be exclusively used for programs and projects intended for children, according to the city government.
