Mechanic nabbed for pointing gun at lady cop


SARIAYA, Quezon – A 43-year-old mechanic was arrested after pointing a gun to a policewoman during a confrontation here on Monday morning, November 27.

Police identified the suspect as Ian, a resident of Barangay Talisay in Tiaong, Quezon.

Victim Police Patrolwoman Mary Ann Escaño, 31, of the Tiaong Municipal Police Station and resident of Barangay Bula in Tiaong, confronted the suspect after nearly colliding with her vehicle driven by her husband.

However, the suspect pointed a gun during the argument and sped off towards the direction of Sariaya.

The victim informed the police here which conducted a dragnet operation led by Police Lt. German Merle in front of the Sariaya Municipal Police Station in Barangay Santo Cristo.

Suspect, who was driving a red Honda CRV with license plates XME-310, was flagged down and police found a caliber .380 in a plain view inspection near the brake and accelerator of the car.

He failed to present documents for the firearm and was taken into custody by the local police.

Suspect faces a compliant for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
