Globe boasts of 716 new 5G sites in 9 months


Globe Telecom reported that it has connected 716 new 5G sites in the first nine months of the year to boost its 5G outdoor coverage to 97.67 percent in the National Capital Region and 92.06 percent in key cities of Visayas and Mindanao. 

In a statement, the firm said its network’s rapid growth is underscored by the 5.2 million 5G devices that connected to Globe for the month of September 2023, signifying growing adoption among Filipinos.

Internationally, Globe’s 5G influence continues to grow with the expansion of partnerships to 156 carriers in 82 destinations, allowing customers to experience high-speed 5G services globally and positioning the Philippines as a notable participant in the 5G arena.

Globe’s 5G roaming coverage already extends to countries such as Guatemala, South Africa, Nigeria, Kazakhstan, Laos, Seychelles, India, Peru, Aland Islands, Crete, Croatia, and Romania. 

At the same time, inbound roamers visiting the Philippines can also benefit from the company’s strengthened 5G infrastructure.

“With the robust expansion of our 5G network, we are not just enhancing connectivity; we are shaping a future where every Filipino is empowered with global, cutting-edge communication capabilities," said Globe.

The firm’s capital expenditure (CAPEX) spending stands at P54 billion for the first nine months of the year, 91 percent of which was directed towards improving data services. 

This is in line with the company’s push for greater digital enablement among Filipinos, as connectivity has now become a lifeline, crucial for day-to-day needs in financial services, business, education and healthcare, among others.
