Coast Guard  Claveria rescues 20 individuals


CAGAYAN---The Coast Guard Sub-Station Claveria, Bantay Dagat Claveria, and other concerned agencies rescued 20 individuals from motor banca MB LA78 that partially submerged between the vicinity waters off Fuga Island and Sanchez Mira, Cagayan on Thursday, Nov. 23.

Coast Guard personnel rescued 20 individuals from motor banca MB LA78 that partially-submerged between the vicinity waters off Fuga Island and Sanchez Mira, Cagayan on Thursday, Nov. 23. (Coast Guard Claveria) 

The Deployable Response Group (DRG), activated by  Coast Guard Sub-Station Claveria, along with the Claveria LGU, Bantay Dagat Claveria, PNP  Cagayan, and volunteer motor banca operators provided assistance. 

They utilized  the LGU Claveria Boat and initiated a search and rescue operation. 

When they sighted the partially-submerged motor banca , the search and rescue team immediately rescued the eleven  passengers and nine crew members. 

They were all taken to the shoreline of Claveria and received  medical aid from Rural Health Unit Claveria personnel. 

Report said they were traversing the waters near Fuga Island when the boat crew noticed a damage to the hull of the boat which caused flooding and gradual submersion.

After they rescued the 20 individuals, SAR Team decided to abandon the motor banca as it fully submerged into the water.
