The Manila Police District (MPD) reminded Christmas shoppers in the Divisoria market to be more vigilant.
MPD reported on Wednesday, Nov. 22, that it installed 20 additional tarpaulins which contain safety reminders for the shoppers.
The tarpaulins were put on the posts at the street corners around Divisoria.
MPD urged the shoppers to avoid wearing expensive jewelry as well as talking to strangers.
It also advised them to carry as little cash as possible and use internet or cellphone banking as alternatives.
For those shopping with children, have their children wear identification cards so they can be found easily in case they get lost.
Shoppers, police stressed, should be mindful of their personal belongings such as wallets and phones because these are hard to find once they go missing.
Operatives of MPD Station 2 in Tondo said they are gearing up in full force for the upcoming Christmas shopping season.
More personnel were dispatched to the Divisoria-Tondo side to maintain peace, order, and cleanliness in the area.
They also encouraged the public to take time to learn the locations of MPD police outposts before shopping.
Meanwhile, authorities also cautioned shoppers to be on the lookout for scammers when transacting with online purchases.
