Flavors of PH: Home-grown fruits delight Japan envoy


Home-grown Philippine fruits have become favorites of Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koshikawa Kazuhiko’s  as he shared some snaps of his own backyard to show a variety of popular Filipino fruit-bearing trees.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), the envoy expressed his delight that he was able to grow a variety of plants and fruits because of the tropical climate in the country.

“Flavors of the Philippines right in our backyard! The tropical climate has allowed me to grow a variety of nutritious plants & fruits, adding color and flavor to our daily life in the (Philippines),” he wrote.

Kazuhiko noted that growing these trees remind him of something else about the Philippines:

“It's a beautiful reminder of the resilience and abundance of nature in this country!,” he added.

The photos showed close-up shots of the ambassador’s fruit-bearing trees, such as avocado, kamias, papaya, and banana.

A malunggay tree was also seen in one of the photos.

United States Ambassador to Manila MaryKay Carlson also replied to Kazuhiko post: “Impressive!  I envy your gardening skills!”
