ILOILO CITY — On and off heavy rains flooded portions of Aklan and Capiz provinces on Monday, November 20.

Based on initial data from the Aklan Information and Media Affairs Division,  flooded were the towns of Altavas, Balete, Banga, Numancia, and the capital of Kalibo.

The local government units (LGUs) of these towns decided to suspend classes on all levels as on and off rain is causing the water level of the Aklan River to rise.

The Capiz Iloilo Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (Capiz PDDRMO) reported flooding in the towns of Dumalag, Mambusao, Panitan, and Sigma.

The Capiz PDDRMO have conducted inspection and other necessary responses in flood-prone towns of the province.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-6  reported that the Sigma-Mambusao-Jamindan Road in Capiz was impassable to all vehicles.

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD)-6 reminded the public in other parts of Western Visayas to stay alert and vigilant as rains are still projected to last for a week.
