Kristine Dee finds the 'beauty in asymmetry' for her latest fine jewelry collection

Her namesake jewelry brand presents a 70-piece collection that celebrates the charm of off-kilter compositions

Symmetry is important in designing jewelry. It starts on the drawing board where designers put their vision onto paper detailing precise measures, lines, and placement for their future pieces. What comes next is finding the right gemstones and precious metals to bring the design to life. There is a sense of class, balance, and elegance in a jewelry piece that is perfectly symmetrical. And if anyone knows the importance of it is Filipino jeweler Kristine Dee.

With her Master's Degree in Industrial Design from the Pratt Institute in New York and her passion for design, Kristine was able to establish her namesake jewelry brand. Through the years, her keen eye for proportion has led her to become the go-to jewelry designer of Manila’s upper echelon. But with her latest collection, Kristine throws the rule book out the window and finds the unique charm that comes from off-kilter compositions.

Dubbed “Beauty in Asymmetry,” Kristine’s latest collection features over 70 pieces inspired by everyday objects but with a twist. The pieces feature mesmerizing gemstones arranged in off-kilter compositions, presenting a contemporary and asymmetrical take on jewelry design.

Asymmetry can be seen in the way Kristine set the precious stones in her designs—sometimes off-center and creating bent and twisted lines—promising a one-of-a-kind jewelry piece. The pieces feature many of the designer's favorite stones, such as emeralds, sapphires, rubies, special-cut peridots and aquamarines, and, of course, diamonds.

“Notice that the stones and details are not symmetrical. Though when arranged in a certain way, such as how we did, the medley comes out beautiful, harmonious, and truly like no other. Hence, the name, Beauty in Asymmetry,” Kristine muses. “On a deeper level, asymmetries are life’s surprises and imperfections, because of the wisdom it imparts—that life doesn’t have to be perfect. They bring out the best in each person, given their individual experiences and challenges, yet still making one beautiful and whole.”

This 70-piece collection is a testament to the uncharted beauty of asymmetry, featuring mini collections such as the “Enchanted Book of Zodiacs” where one gets to tell their own stories that can be engraved in the book. Each book pendant comes in stones of pink or black mother of pearl, malachite, lapis lazuli, and turquoise.

With her stepping into the world of asymmetry, finding beauty in the unusual, and mirroring the magic of astrology, Kristine dares everyone to stand out and tell their stories with her newest objets d’art.
