Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin "Benhur" Abalos Jr. assured Friday, Nov. 17, the department’s "overwhelming support" to the administration’s "Bagong Pilipinas" program through its first-ever Strategic Plan 2023-2028.

The DILG explained that Bagong Pilipinas is the overarching theme of the President’s brand of governance and leadership, which is characterized by a "principled, accountable, and dependable" government reinforced by unified institutions of society, whose common objective is to realize the goals and aspirations of every Filipino.

“Importante rito ay talagang magkakasama-sama tayo ng lubos para sa iisang adhikain (It is important for us to really fully unite for a unified aspiration). That's the only way we continue to help our President and our country na maganda ang magiging output at contribution natin (for us to achieve an excellent output and contribution)," Abalos said.

Anchored on the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028, the DILG StratPlan is the blueprint for pursuing its aspirations and priority strategies over the next five years, supportive of the 8-point Socio-Economic Agenda and Bagong Pilipinas brand of governance of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

“No person can do it alone. No department can do it alone. All of us should be working together,” he added.

Abalos explained that the new DILG StratPlan adopts a forward-thinking approach amid rapid changes in the political, socio-cultural, economic, and technological spheres in the country as well as regional and international landscapes.

“It aims, among others, to sustain accountable, transparent, and people-centric local governments; propel innovative and future-ready local governments; bolster peace and order and security of communities; and enhance humane safekeeping and facilitate productive social reintegration of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs)," the DILG stated.
