"By addressing climate change, we (PRC) are actively contributing to promoting peace and sustainability," she said during the International Women Empowerment Assembly: Peace and Sustainable Development of the International Council of Women on Nov. 6.

Pang emphasized the importance of incorporating climate change into disaster preparedness and response strategies like "investing in nature-based solutions and intensifying our efforts in waste management and circular economy."

She said the PRC also has climate-resilient development practices, such as early warning and early action protocols, and community-based disaster risk reduction and disaster preparedness to help Filipino communities affected by these natural hazards.

"Our early warning and action systems help Filipinos strengthen their houses, evacuate livestock, relocate small businesses, and harvest their crops days early before the impact of hazards," she added.

Pang concluded her talk by encouraging all women leaders at the conference to develop action plans and integrate climate change into local and national policies.
