QCPD commended for active involvement in drug clearing programs

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) was cited by the Quezon City Anti-Drug Abuse Advisory Council (QCADAAC) for its active involvement in anti-illegal drug initiatives and excellent service to the public.

The QCPD received the plaque of recognition from QCADAAC  during the city’s flag raising ceremony held at Quezon City Hall Compound on Monday, Nov. 13.

QCPD chief Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said that the recognition was given to the District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU), District Intelligence Division (DID), and QCPD Police Stations 1 to 16.

The gesture was an expression of gratitude for their active involvement in the Barangay Drug Clearing Program of QCADAAC in villages in the city.

The joint efforts of the QCPD's stations and units in addressing the problem of illegal drugs have produced commendable results, police said.

The QCPD Public Information Office (QCPD-PIO) stated that the city police force has conducted a total of 1,653 operations, resulting in the seizure of shabu and marijuana with a combined estimated value of P98,257,281 from January to Oct. 31 this year.

Additionally, 3,125 drug suspects were apprehended during these operations.

They also stated that through the coordination of the QCPD and QCADAAC, 11 barangays have been officially declared drug-cleared during this period.

These barangays are Project 6, Sto. Cristo, Veterans, Batasan Hills, San Isidro Galas, Sto. Niño, Kamuning, Sikatuna, Malaya, Sta. Monica, and San Bartolome.

Maranan stated that the achievement will serve as a testament to the dedication, resilience, and professionalism of QCPD personnel, who consistently go above and beyond to fulfill their responsibilities to the community.

“The dedication and perseverance of our officers have contributed to the positive transformation of these areas, symbolizing a significant step forward in creating a drug-free environment. Let us continue to work hand in hand to build a Quezon City free from illegal drugs, where safety and justice prevail”, he said.

He extended his gratitude and appreciation to Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte for her trust, confidence, and unwavering support for the QCPD.
