DOH, RAISE Coalition mark one-year milestone in elderly vaccination advocacy


Recognizing the importance of safeguarding the elderly through timely and adequate vaccination, the Department of Health (DOH) marked the first anniversary of the Raising Awareness on Influenza to Support Elderlies (RAISE) Coalition.

DOH, represented by Undersecretary Dr. Enrique A. Tayag and Dr. Janis Bunoan-Macazo of the DOH Disease Prevention and Control Bureau, marked the first anniversary of the RAISE Coalition on Nov. 13 which coincided with World Pneumonia Day.

In line with the Department's 8-Point Action Agenda, specifically "Pag-iwas sa sakit" (disease prevention), the stakeholders' forum underscored the collective commitment of medical organizations, senior citizen representatives, civil society organizations, and other partners to safeguard the health of the elderly through timely and adequate vaccination.

Key figures in attendance included Philippine Foundation for Vaccination, Inc. (PFV) Executive Director and RAISE Co-Convenor Dr. Lulu Bravo, PRV President and RAISE Co-Convenor Dr. Rosario Capeding, National Institutes of Health - Institute of Aging Health (NIH) Director Dr. Shelley Ann de la Vega, and Philippine Society for Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, Inc. (PSMID) Immunization Committee Member Dr. Remedios Coronel.
