OPM rap star Nik Makino admitted that he was not familiar with Francesca, the supposed daughter of the Filipino King of Rap, Francis Magalona, who is reportedly planning to pursue a career in showbiz, possibly in the rap music genre.

"Sino yun?" answered Nik when he was recently approached about collaborating with Francesca during a Quezon City listening party to debut unreleased tracks.

When informed that Francesca was the supposed daughter of the late rap icon, Nik answered: "S'ya ba yun? Hindi ko kasi alam eh. I don't know. Maybe yes, maybe not. Bahala na ang Diamond Management makipag-usap doon."

Rising OPM rap artist Mayo Marte, when asked the same question, said: "Depende siguro kung mag jibe yung sounds namin. And siyempre yung Diamond Management po ang bahala."

At the same listening party, Nik and Mayo released their tracks "Shot Puno,” “Solid,” “Ngayong Gabi, “Hindi Ko na Kaya,” “Alak,” and “Alaala” under Believe Music Philippines.

“Ang concept nitong unreleased songs ay story of my life.

(The concept of these unreleased songs is the story of my life. Everything I've been through in life and love. And I'm still there in the reinvention of myself and how to grow. It is also self-reflection.)

Based ito sa experiences ng mga kakilala ko,” said Maryo, in reference to his unreleased tracks.

(The major theme of the EP is relationships - from the beginning to the end. How I get hurt, and how to move on. It's based on the experiences of people I know.)

Nik and Mayo also tackled their respective music-making processes.

(Right now, I'm getting rid of the idea of 'hopefully surpassing' my first hit songs. I'm just enjoying it. I don't pressure myself. Because before, that had happened to me — that I was under too much pressure to beat the first songs — and I lost focus. So now, I'm just really enjoying it. If they like it, they like it. If not, I'll just make something new. I would rather share positive than negative. That's my awareness.)

With more than 95 million streams in 2021, Nik is the artist behind the hit songs "Neneng B" and "Lexi. In 2022, he released his full album entitled Hype's One."

Ngayon na nandito na ako, I wanna represent Ilonggos and make them proud.”

(My father taught me. I'm still young, I'm really musically inclined. I started making music in college. I didn't finish college because I continued music. Now that I'm here, I wanna represent Ilonggos and make them proud.)
