Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson led the second opening of the “Bigasan ng Bayan” commercial stall at the Food Terminal Market of Negros Occidental (FTMON) here on Tuesday, November 7.

This Bigasan ng Bayan sells rice at P25 per kilogram and  allows an individual to purchase a maximum of five kilos to ensure that many people can avail of the commodity.

Priority consumers are senior citizens, indigents, and Person with Disabilities (PWDs).

This project was launched last month as part of the province’s rice assistance to the people which aims to help families, especially the vulnerable sector, buy the staple at affordable prices, and enable farmers to have an assured income, lower the cost, and improve farm production.

FIACN-BRIS would sell 10 percent of their total rice production to the public at P25 per kilogram whenever supply is available.

FIACN-BRIS President Pedro Limpangog said that 44 irrigators association are part of this collaboration.

Lacson assured his constituents that the program will continue and that other groups will be tapped.
