DepEd Marikina warns public vs social media threats

The Department of Education (DepEd) Marikina office warned the public against a social media account that is threatening to expose information about local Deped personnel and school officials.

In their disclaimer statement released on Monday, Oct. 9, DepEd Marikina said it has “no association or affiliation whatsoever” with the Facebook page named “Marikina DEPED X-Files.”

In the screenshots shared by the office, the page created a post saying “Mga DepEd employees, teachers, at principal na sumasali sa pulitika, papangalanan na! (The DepEd employees, teachers, and principal who are politicking will be named!).”

“Accordingly, the public is hereby warned to be very cautious, prudent, and avoid engaging with this page. DepEd Marikina strongly denounces all activities that are contrary to common good, against public policy, and those that circumvent the rule of law, particularly on proper reporting and due process (not subject to public litigation),” said the statement.

It added that it is “doing its very best to do the necessary preventive and corrective actions on this regard,” with the aid of its Legal and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) units.

DepEd Marikina reminded the public to use social media as a “constructive tool to promote positive reformations, not for divisive upheavals and social media distortions.”
