23 nabbed for illegal fishing in Caraga


CAMP RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – The Police Regional Office-13 have arrested 23 individuals in line with the intensified campaign against illegal fishing in the Caraga region from October 1 to 8.

PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft said suspects yielded P18,380 worth of assorted fish and were issued citation tickets for violating local ordinances against illegal fishing.

On Saturday, October 7, four violators were arrested in the provinces of Surigao del Sur and Dinagat Islands.

Police identified the suspects in Surigao del Sur alias "Rog," 47, and "Jun," 40, from Cortes; and alias "Jes," 37, from Madrid.

Alias “Cay,” 22, was apprehended in Barangay Cab-ilan, Dinagat,  Dinagat Islands.

Kraft reminded the people to follow the law.

"Let us help remind one another that every action that we take today has consequences that could make or break our community,” Kraft said.

“Hence, let us take a united stand to protect and preserve the rich natural and marine resources of our beloved Caraga, and violators will be dealt with accordingly."
