The announcement was made on the Facebook page of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

Olin, who was appointed by Rome-based Superior General Fr. Antonio Sosa will succeed Fr. Promotivo Viray Jr., as the 13th Provincial Superior of the Philippine Jesuits.

“I thank Fr. Xave for his generosity and availability to serve the province and the society. Let us all continue to pray for Fr. Xave and the province,” Viray said, who was named president of the Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific (JCAP) this year.

Olin is currently the rector of Loyola House of Studies and the executive director of the Center for Ignatian Spirituality.

Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle ordained him as a priest in 2008 after completing his Bachelor's Degree in Theology and Master's Degree in Pastoral Ministry at the Loyola School of Theology in Quezon City. (Erika Escover)
