Parañaque, Guam unveil sisterhood marker

Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez led the unveiling of the sisterhood marker, solidifying the partnership between the city and six municipalities of Guam at the City Hall on Wednesday, Oct. 4.

Olivarez said the marker will commemorate the relationship between Parañaque and Guam, which they forged through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) and council resolution signed and presented on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at the Solaire Forum in Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City.

After the ceremony, the delegates toured the different offices at the Parañaque City Hall, starting from the Mayor’s Office, wherein the symbolic key to the city was presented and turned over to the six mayors of Guam.

The mayor said the delegates visited the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) headed by Dr. Ted Gonzalez, the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) headed by Atty. Melanie Malaya, and the Treasury Office headed by Dr. Anthony Pulmano.

Rep. Edwin Olivarez said the sister-city relationship paves the way for stronger economic, social, and cultural ties among the city and six municipalities of Guam.

The delegates -- Hågat Village Mayor Kevin T. Susuico and wife; Humåtak Village Mayor Johnny A. Quinata and wife; Inalåhan Village Mayor Anthony P. Chargualaf and wife; Yona Villages Mayor Bill A. Quenga; and Barrigada Village represented by Vice Mayor Jessie Bautista -- arrived in the city on Monday, Oct. 2

Other Guam officials who visited the city were Mayors Council of Guam (MCoG) President and Mayor of Piti Jesse L.G. Alig; MCoG Executive Director Angel Sablan, Tinian Village Mayor Edwin Aldan with his Chief of Staff Allan Perez, and the Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) Philippines Country Manager Romy Go.
